The Armageddon Overtures - On July 18, 2007, the artist completed a draft outline for an expansive new composition project titled "The Armageddon Overtures." Focusing on the final day of life on earth before "the end of time," this massive suite for full orchestra and choir was completed in February 2008. The mp3s can be downloaded below, and more information can be found on the author's blog page.

BONUS TRACK: Beyond This Twilight (4:25 8.11mb) - In 2007 Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) released a new album "Year Zero." Later that year, he released all of the songs from that album in multitrack format. He invited the public to take his compositions and remix them in any way they wanted, completely free of charge. This piece is Stephan's remix of one of the tracks from that album, "In This Twilight," which was also an inspiration in the creation of The Armageddon Overtures. This arrangement is a full orchestral and choral score, utilizing the lead vocal and drum tracks from the original album.

April 10, 2008 - A new Editor's Review has been posted for "The Armageddon Overtures" on music.download.com:

A lack of compositional training doesn't show in Carroll's sweeping modern classical works, which bear that most essential symphonic quality: sheer courage. A film scorer's feel for drama and a classicist's sense of balance shine through the brazen timpani runs and whirling string movements.

March 16, 2008 - Stephan was contacted by Marian Gaynor, Director of Music at The Cathedral of The Assumption in Carlow, Ireland. Mr. Gaynor is creating an arrangement of the traditional Zulu piece "Siyahamba" based on the orchestral arrangement by Stephan. This arrangement will be performed at the close of the Easter Vigil on Saturday March 22nd.

March 1, 2008 - The University of Minnesota has featured an excerpt from Symphony No. 1 in G Major, Movement IV "Dawn of Rebirth and Grand Finale" in a new promotional video for their 2008 Undergraduate Research Conference. View the video page to watch this movie clip.

February 27, 2008 - A new review of The Armageddon Overtures has been posted at the LimeWire blog site.
